Hardware Intern - Test Bench Project
The goal of this internship is to have dedicated hardware instruments and a software architecture to improve Chipiron’s testing workflow, increasing efficiency, reproducibility, and traceability.
Duration: 6 months
From: April/May 2026 (Flexible)
Skills & Experience
Pursuing a Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
Proficiency in Python
Experience with Git / GitHub
Hands-on experience with laboratory measurement instruments (oscilloscope, VSA, VNA)
Strong listening skills and ability to learn quickly
Curiosity and interest in working within a startup environment
Interest in hardware measurement instruments and MRI systems
Key Responsibilities
As part of the development of next-generation MRI machines, numerous subsystems—including RF coils and electronic circuit boards—must be rigorously characterized and validated. The objective of this internship is to design and implement an automated test bench to support the characterization and validation of multiple hardware subsystems.
During the internship, you will first learn the test procedures and validation methods used at Chipiron. You will then use Python to connect and control laboratory measurement instruments as part of a test bench. Based on this setup, you will develop automated scripts to run measurements, analyze the collected data, and check the results against predefined test metrics.
This internship offers hands-on experience with physical and electrical measurements, hardware–software interfacing, and test automation. You will strengthen your programming skills by applying software best practices and improving testing robustness and reproducibility. Finally, you will gain valuable insight into the medical device industry and contribute directly to the development of an innovative MRI technology.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Develop Python code to automate the test bench (instrument control, measurement execution, data analysis, and validation against predefined metrics/specifications)
Apply software engineering best practices to improve test robustness, reproducibility, and traceability (version control with Git/GitHub, clean code, reusable modules)
Produce clear documentation of the test bench setup, measurement workflows, and results to support the team’s validation activities
Communicate progress, results, and technical needs clearly with other team members (software, hardware, and test/validation stakeholders)
Who We Are
Chipiron is a French startup that is leveraging the emerging properties of ultra-low magnetic fields (<30mT) to build the first light, inexpensive MRI machine without compromising on image quality. We're a team of engineers based in the heart of Paris, and our mission is to revolutionize the medical imaging industry by developing the first plug-and-play, patient-friendly breast MRI that works everywhere.
Our Culture
We are an international, English-speaking team that values technical excellence, interpersonal intelligence, and engagement. At Chipiron, this means we look for people with exceptional analytical ability, who enjoy mastering complex problems and executing with rigor and precision; communicate clearly and concisely, are self-aware and willing to ask for help and to help others when needed; people who go the extra mile, and instinctively move where impact is highest, rather than staying confined to a job description.
