Key Responsibilities

Following the successful acquisition of 3D MRI images on a phantom using Chipiron's customized SQUID MRI scanner, we are starting the development of human-scale radiofrequency coils (transmit and receive) operating at 1mT and 10 mT. These coils aim to enhance our imaging capabilities, expanding our focus to diverse regions of the human anatomy, including the brain, knee, wrist, and beyond.

To achieve this goal, we will perform electromagnetic simulations to explore suitable RF coil geometries at ultra-low field (~1 - 10 mT). The selected geometries will then be fabricated and tested on our custom MRI-SQUID scanner, with the ultimate goal of achieving 2x2x4 mm³ image resolution.

Tasks:

• EM simulation of transmit and receive coils for a human scale size at 1 mT
• Build the RF coils
• Tune and match the coils
• Fabrication of a human shape phantom (head or extremities)
• Characterize the RF coils on the bench in terms of field homogeneity, efficiency, and coil’s sensitivity
• Integrate the coils to a 1 mT SQUID-MRI
• Get an NMR signal, 1D and 2D images with the coils
